Being a less wasteful teacher

Today I am bringing you an idea of what to do with scrap paper.  There is always so much of it after the children are done cutting, and even with recycling, sometimes I feel bad "throwing it out."  I thought of something fun for the kids to do with their scraps - they were so excited about this!
During their free time, four of my Kindergarteners were very excited to make books out of construction paper.  And not just any books.. different shaped books! Rectangles, squares, stars, even trapezoids! I let the kids write about whatever they wanted and use crayons, markers, pencils, and stickers - anything to make it even more enjoyable.
My student below wrote about "Art and Glass" - can you tell she is quite the artist? :) The other two books were going to be for her sister and parents.  Such a nice little sentiment to give to your family and write from your heart.
Always remember that you can create something beautiful using old materials.  I hope this inspires you to think outside the box with paper and scraps!

Please stay in touch with me on my blog, facebook, and my TPT store.  I appreciate you stopping by and I'm always here to help :) lauralove2teach@gmail.com is the best place to reach me as well!

End of the Year Sale and Craft

Many of you have already started their summer vacations, but I am still in school with my sweet Kindergarteners - we are having a blast doing our 10 Day Countdown with something special each day.
I will miss them very, very much!!
For one of the kids crafts that they have made at the end of the year, I cut out letters (L-E-A-R-N) on cardstock and taped them to a paper.  The students then painted (any color they choose) over the cardstock to form the letters - didn't they come out cute? You can use this with any word, any color paint, and the students decided to make it even "cuter" by adding a flower - so I helped them with a little bit of tissue paper, and they cut out green leaves from construction paper.

To celebrate the end of the year, all of my TPT products will be on sale - 20% off including bundles.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Happy Father's Day 2014

Happy Father's Day to all you wonderful fathers out there... I hope you enjoyed your special day!

These are what my Kindergarteners created this year for their dads.  They did such a wonderful job and after I used spray sealer, they decorated paper bags to put the mugs in.  They used these paint pens from Michael's.
*Tip* - if you are on a tight budget, buy paper bags instead of gift bags - children can decorate them and make them beautiful!

Also inside the bag I found some fabulous freebies on TPT. Click on each picture below to see the cute printables.  The first one is perfect for uncles and grandfathers (we can't forget about them on Father's Day!) and the second one is soo cute for super dads :]
