Five for Friday :)

fiveforfriday
Hi everybody! I am linking up with the wonderful Doodle Bugs and her Five for Friday :]
Here are 5 random things about my week:

1. Almost done with science test prep with my kiddos!! I am actually more "relieved" with this part even though I am a new 4th grade teacher AND I am the only one... so I had to make sure that we got all the equipment and resources that we needed (or at least I am pretty sure we needed!)
Here is a picture of our electricity kit today.. we also did one yesterday on simple machines but I didn't take any pictures.  With doing review and taking practice tests, I realize that they are ready and a lot of the questions on previous tests are "common sense" :) Almost done.. 5/22 and 5/23 are the performance testing dates for my kids and 6/3 is the written test.  And then NO MORE TESTING :]

2. I went to a place called "The Pottery Place" in Albany, NY with some friends (including K-2 is Splendid!!!) last week and we created these beautiful plates with a scenic background with cute love birds and flowers... here is how mine came out.  I am pretty artistic and creative when it comes to certain things, but wow did I really make that?! :) :) I can't wait to go back.. anyone who has the opportunity to do a painting or pottery or something creative in their area should do it.  It's a lot of fun and I learned a lot about painting!

3. Today I was dismissing my students, and one of the students in another class got picked up by someone new today.. wouldn't it happen to be a former student of mine :] So wonderful seeing them so grown up.  I had him in 6th grade, and he is now in 11th grade and looks so happy and tells me he is doing great.  I love students of all ages.. I try and teach them as much as I can and have them enjoy learning - that was always my motto.  Life lessons and engagement.  This is WHY I am a teacher XOXO
Photo: We are in the single digits :( I truly am going to miss my "kids".

4. I am in the middle of gathering ideas for my wonderful tutoring students for over the summer.  I am sure I will have a summer math unit of some sort for 4th or 5th grade (or both).. :) Also, just want to give a shout out to Teacher's Notebook... are you a part of it yet? You should be.. they rock! GIVEAWAY COMING SOON. ;)
5. And last but not least, I wanted to tell you about a contest I am in and the voting just started.  Mary Kay is a company that basically wants women to feel beautiful "in their own skin" and be happy to be themselves.  Mary Kay gives different messages but I think it is overall very positive, encouraging, and builds confidence.  I am a part of the Mary Kay Makeover Contest that is going on now... and I really would LOVE your votes.  The grand prize winner (there can be 50 winners throughout the country) win $5,000 for A CHARITY OF CHOICE.  That is HUGE and I could never in my wildest dreams give away that much to charity... what a wonderful, beautiful prize to be able to give back.  There are so many children and families that need that money in my area and to help them out would be better than any prize.
The contestants have entered. Now it’s your chance to help choose the finalists!
Please please please if you have the time or a chance at any time between now and 5/28, please vote for me.  You can vote up to 5 times every 24 hours (no sooner.)  If you vote for 4 days (20 total votes) I will give you anything from my store - big or small.  If you vote 40 times, you can get 2 products from my TPT or TN store!!
Thank you so so much.. all of you are amazing! :]

Five for Friday [March 15th]

Hello again... blogging two times today! :] Feels good!  I of course have time to link up with Kasey from Doodle Bugs Teaching... she's so great, isn't she?! And what a wonderful linky to do on my most favorite day of the week [besides Saturday!]
fiveforfriday
1. I have been teaching my kiddos magnets all week.  They had so much fun with the kit I purchased from Lakeshore... I purchased a bunch of kits from Lakeshore to get the students ready for state testing.. they loved it!

2. I had parent teacher conferences this week... and they went really well.  It is always hard to schedule them in, but we had a half day today specifically for conferences. I love my class and they are doing great. I am happy that my parents know I am doing my very best for their children!

3. Finished a book called "Still Life with Elephant" by Judy Reene Singer.  I really enjoyed it because it is about a woman who goes through difficulties in her marriage and in life, and overcomes obstacles to find herself with the help of rescuing an elephant in Zimbabwe.  A great read [I love when I actually have time to read and get lost in a good book!]
4. Made my spring break plans.... getting my wisdom teeth out and babysitting the rest of the vacation full-time.  Hmm.. not really a vacation, huh?  Well, I am scared to death to get my wisdom teeth out because I am a baby.. I've had 11 baby teeth pulled in my life, and some of them were bad but not too too bad, but this just freaks me out for some reason.  They don't hurt me or bother me either. Oh well! At least I won't have to keep thinking about it and putting it off!  Wish me luck in 2 weeks!

5. My class did lots of St. Patrick's Day projects and fun... here's a picture of the amazing Sunny Days in Second Grade's wonderful freebie that my class completed.  They loved it her Lucky Family Project! Denise is the greatest. The first picture below shows Denise's examples of her board.  So cute! We also made Leprechaun dirt pudding!! Miss Mound is so great with Pinterest and keeping up with our yummy holiday snacks. The 2-4th graders loved it! Yum...!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Five for Friday

Hello ladies and gents (and the weekend!) I can't complain much because I was off allll this week and have to go back on Monday.. so I didn't really want the weekend to get here too quickly ;) I always say I am going to relax on my breaks, but I.never.do.  I work my butt off with school work & my teacher stores - but that's our life, right? :] I didn't want to include it in my 5 for Friday, but this week has been very hard for me and the people in my town.  Our dear sweet lady Anna went missing Monday and we still have no idea where she is... I cannot help but think bad thoughts, but I am praying and hoping that she is okay XO.. say a little prayer for me if you could!

I am excited to be linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching and it's her famous Five for Friday! She is just wonderful and has the best ideas... please go follow her!
1. Since it was my February break, I definitely have lots of new updates on my teacher stores (click here for Teacher's Notebook and here for Teacher's Pay Teacher's) and I really tried my best to make my products better... I actually am in the middle of fixing up my Landform Unit as well :] Every little bit helps more than anyone knows, so this extra $ (even if it's a few dollars) can do wonders! I wanted to show you my latest post, which is my Reading Common Core Task Cards.. they can go with any fiction story and are most appropriate for grades 4-6 (and higher level 3rd graders.) Perfect for guided reading or having your students try them independently in their notebooks.  Only $1.50 on TN and TPT!
2. Well... I went to my doctor and I need to eat BETTER. All whole wheat and whole grains for me.. I got a kick in the butt with how my liver is doing :\ everything else is great.  I have to tell you all, I am down 6 pounds and feel great! I am better when I am not on break, but I have still been doing my best.  I wanted to give you a heads up of a few great healthy eating choices when you are out to dinner (which I am a lot.)
P.F. Changs - Ginger chicken with broccoli and brown rice: Lunch portion is 570 calories: it is very filling, and one of the best choices on the menu (besides vegetarian options).
Red Robin - This is a toughie with yummy burgers and fries and other salty yumminess... but the regular burgers are over a 1,000 calories..without the fries! Ridic :X So it makes me feel better to have a plain grilled chicken sandwich (with a whole wheat bun) with a side salad.  The whole thing is around 500 calories including the low fat balsamic dressing!

3. I am still waiting to be able to pin from my blog to pinterest again!! Don't ever mess up your pinterest It is not worth it ;] And it has become one of my most favorite things in the world.. I just pinned my 1000th pin the other day AND it took me 3 days to sort out alllll my activities into different categories.  Wish I had did it a long time ago!! Come follow me :]

4. My bestest friend and I got together and had a little work party with some yummy fondue... she got out her laminator, sharpies, smelly markers, and poster board and we did a few things that we never get around to and always wanted to do for our classroom.  Going back to Pinterest, it has the BEST anchor charts and poster ideas... here are two that I created for my classroom :]
5. I bought my first font license from Tonya's Treats for Teachers.. I am very excited and look forward to using Tonya's fonts in most of my products.  She is such a wonderful gal too :]

So glad I got to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching :] I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!!
