Back to School 2018 Sale and Giveaway

I am currently printing a set of my Portfolio pages for each of my second graders to put into binders.  When I taught Kindergarten, I used all the portfolio pages (how I write my name/how tall I am, etc.), but now I use just the memory pages for the children to reflect on each month.  In between the monthly memory pages, I have my students choose their best writing pieces to fill in their portfolios. 

 I love having a binder for each child to bring home and share with their families at the end of the year!  Such a great keepsake!

I wanted to share some great anchor charts I created for my students, inspired by Lucy Calkins - many parts of her readers and writers workshop have helped me become a better teacher this past year.  These two posters were used for early learners and ENL learners to help learn the process of reading comprehension and strategies like "Turn and Talk."

 I love this Anchor Chart I pinned on Pinterest from The Brown Bag Teacher on Small Moments... Her post on Narrative Writing is a must read :) Personal narratives is a great unit in Lucy Calkins Writer's Workshop.

After connecting with this post, it got me thinking about creative writing and what I do in my classroom... small moments.  What if I could find some photos that are "small moments" that children can turn into something "bigger?" Details, creativity, and imagination..

I just finished a product for grades 1-3 - Creative writing with photographs.  I have used these a lot with my first graders last year, and this type of activity helps children more about themselves as a writer while using their imagination and digging deeper with descriptive words.

TPT Sale!

I am so very excited about the TPT sale! August and Back to School is definitely when I search Teachers Pay Teachers the most.  As teachers, we all want to be prepared and as organized as we can be for our kiddos :) I look through my curriculum for the year, and make sure that I highlight important topics and activities that will be essential for my students' learning.

I wanted to highlight a few products of mine that have truly helped me, and a few purchases that I have absolutely loved and that have worked wonders for me.  Enjoy the sale, and let me know if you have any questions!

My Close Reading Bundle has helped my readers think critically and follow along with the rigor of common core.  I loved that I stuck with nonfiction passages because that is what interested my chidlren the most.  I hope that you enjoy this bundle at an even more discounted price! :)

4th of July Sale

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying your 4th of July weekend.  For me, it's a time to relax a little bit (while still being productive) before my summer job begins.  It is my 13th summer working at a remedial reading and writing program.  I absolutely love it and the people I work with.  I have been reflecting on this wonderful year I had with my K-1 class as well - I miss them already but will hopefully keep in touch with their families as they continue to grow.  I am so proud of their hard work :) It makes me so incredibly happy to be a teacher.

Happy Thanksgiving!

 

I am thankful for all of my family, friends/coworkers, Mike, Lily, and my students and their families.  I am thankful for finding joy in the simple things of life, and thankful that my students always help me to strive to be a better person, a better role model.  It is my favorite time of year (especially Christmas) - I just can't wait to be with my wonderful family tomorrow.  I hope you all enjoy!!

My sweeties and I had a Thanksgiving breakfast - they made these adorable table decorations with the inspiration of this pin on Pinterest from A Girl with a Glue Gun :)

 My kids LOVED making this easy freebie from Kristen on TPT! Heart penguins are the cutest :) We are getting ready for winter!

 First real snow fall was today.. I had to share this adorable picture of my sheltie-pom, Lily - I love her and I can't even stand how cute and sweet she is! Mommy's little girl :)
